About: New York University Tisch School of the Arts invites visiting students to make films or study the moving image through cinema studies. Film production courses are offered for the novice to experienced filmmaker in New York City and abroad. Visiting undergraduate students can spend one semester in New York City and make five short films in the Spring at Tisch program, or study the history, theory, aesthetics, and criticism of film. Advanced-level film production programs are offered during the spring, summer and fall semesters abroad: 35mm Directing in Prague, Music Video Production and Documentary Filmmaking in Dublin, Documentary Video Production in Havana, and Television Production with the BBC in London. Summer courses in New York City offer opportunities to earn undergraduate or graduate credit, or a noncredit certificate in filmmaking. The Tisch School also has a summer film program in New York City, Dublin and Singapore for high school students.

About: With the advent of digital filmmaking, the Internet and social networking, as well as the technologies available in camera, sound and editing--the potential to make films, and share them with an audience, has become accessible to almost everyone. However, the artistry of storytelling and the trained ability to make successful creative decisions can be elusive. Our MFA in Social Documentary Film gives students the opportunity to learn how to find and capture important stories that speak to varied audiences on subjects of public concern, within a social, political and cultural consciousness that can change how we view our world.
