When pursuing an education in film and visual arts, it’s important to make sure that it is accredited. Often times, students will be ineligible to receive financial aid if the institution they are attending does not hold an accredited status. Accreditation gives students the confidence that their program of study was examined and given approval by film making professionals. More so, it means that the film education is considered to be valuable in the film and visual arts industry.
The National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD) is the only independent body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education http://www.ed.gov for visual arts program accreditation. The NASAD’s is responsible for accrediting visual arts programs and the schools that teach them; they establish guidelines for those programs and determine the standards they must meet.
