In 2002, there were about 360,000 jobs in the motion picture and video industries.
Most of these workers are involved in the production end of filmmaking.
Most companies in the industry employ 10 workers or less.
A 31.1% increase in jobs is expected industry-wide in the 2002-2012 time period.
This growth is roughly twice the 16% growth expected across all industries combined in that period.
Computer specialists have excellent job prospects; a 49.1% increase in job openings is expected.
Median annual earnings for producers and directors (on salary) were $46,240 in 2002. The top ten percent earned over $119,760.
Today, American TV shows are broadcast in over 125 foreign markets.
There are seven major producers and distributors of movies and TV programs in the US. These are
